Your Fall To Do List

As the season changes, there are many things you can do around your home to make for a smooth transition from warmer weather to the cooler months of winter.  A little effort now can save money and energy, enhance your family’s well-being and safety and even get ready for a beautiful spring.

Change your Furnace Filter- Switching from AC to Heat is a great reminder to change out your furnace filter.  This helps improve the air quality in your home and the life of your furnace.

Adjust your Thermostat- If you have a programmable thermostat, adjust it for the winter months.  Many people keep the temperature in their home a few degrees cooler than they do in the summer in order to save money.  If you don’t have a programmable thermostat, consider installing one.  It can pay for itself in less than a year.

Check your Home for Gaps & Cracks- Look around your house for areas where air may be entering/escaping.  These may be gaps around your windows and doors, holes and even outlets on outside walls.  Repairing these can make your home more energy efficient and even keep out unwanted pests.

Apply Winterizer to Your Lawn- A little effort now can pay big dividends in the spring.  We consider this the most important feeding of the year as it encourages strong root growth.

Change Your Smoke Detector Batteries- Many people save this chore for the change to Daylight Savings.  It’s a great way to keep your family safe and avoid having to change them in the middle of the night when they start beeping.

Winterize Your Outdoor Faucets and Sprinkler System- Disconnect hoses from outdoor faucets and make sure your sprinkler system is ready for winter.  Both of these actions can prevent expensive repairs due to winter freezing.

A little effort now can go a long way.  Our helpful sales associates are ready to help you with the changing seasons!
